WHAT IS POSH?

The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 commonly known as the POSH Act - was enacted to ensure a safe, secure, and dignified environment for women at the workplace. This includes educational institutions, where teachers, staff, and students above the age of 18 are protected from sexual harassment.

POSH COMMITTEE AT MOUNT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

Mount International School is committed to creating a respectful and harassment-free environment for all employees and adult students. In accordance with the POSH Act, the school has constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to prevent and address incidents of sexual harassment at the workplace.

Objectives of the POSH Committee:

1. Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful work environment for all employees.
2. Promote awareness about the prevention of sexual harassment and gender-based misconduct.
3. Provide a confidential, accessible, and impartial redressal mechanism for complaints.
4. Educate employees about their rights and responsibilities under the POSH Act.

Key Activities of the Committee:

1. Conduct orientation sessions for staff on the POSH Act and zero-tolerance policy toward harassment.
2. Organize gender sensitization workshops and legal awareness programs.
3. Provide a mechanism for timely and fair inquiry into complaints.
4. Maintain confidentiality and uphold the dignity of all parties involved.
5. Encourage a culture of respect and equity through periodic campaigns and posters.
6. Offer counselling support where required.

School Policy on POSH Compliance:

1. All staff and adult students are sensitized through regular trainings and handbooks.
2. POSH awareness is integrated into staff induction and annual review processes.
3. Complaints can be filed in writing to the ICC or via email at: principalmis.ludhiana@gmail.com.
4. Disciplinary action is taken as per the recommendations of the ICC after inquiry.
